Name the Baby ("we", "us", or "our") is an online platform that helps expectant parents collect baby name suggestions from their family and friends. We are operated from the United Arab Emirates and our service is accessible worldwide at suggestbabyname.com.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • ▸Account data: Your email address and encrypted password when you register.
  • ▸Baby name request data: Baby gender, nickname, due date, and any optional details you choose to provide.
  • ▸Suggestion data: Names, meanings, personal notes, and the contributor's name and relationship submitted by people you invite.
  • ▸Payment data: When you purchase credits, payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your card number, CVV, or banking details. We receive a transaction ID and payment status from Stripe.
  • ▸Usage data: Credit balance, usage timestamps, and feature interactions.
  • ▸Technical data: Browser type, IP address, and device type collected automatically for security and analytics purposes.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • ▸To provide, maintain, and improve the Name the Baby service.
  • ▸To process your credit purchases and maintain your credit wallet.
  • ▸To send transactional emails (e.g. email verification, purchase receipts).
  • ▸To detect fraud, abuse, or security threats.

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or UK, our legal basis for collecting and using the personal information depends on the context:

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (a PostgreSQL database infrastructure). Data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Data submitted by guest contributors (family and friends) is retained as part of the host's campaign until the host deletes their account or requests data erasure. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 7).

Depending on your location, you have rights under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which include the right to:

  • ▸Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data we hold about you.
  • ▸Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): Request deletion of your account and all associated data, including guest suggestions.
  • ▸Restriction & Objection: Object to processing in certain circumstances or limit how we use your data.
  • ▸CCPA Specific: California residents have the "Right to Know", "Right to Delete", and "Right to Non-Discrimination". We affirm we do not sell your personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or a notice on the platform. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
